Two Worlds

Being a first-generation immigrant can be a tough and sometimes confusing journey.

You’re often caught between two worlds – trying to respect and honor your family’s traditions while fitting into a new culture.

This can lead to feeling like you don’t fully belong to either side, which can be really hard.

Juggling Identity

You might have grown up feeling like you had to play by different rules at home and outside.

Your family might have had certain expectations and traditions at home, while at school or work, things were completely different.

This juggling act can be exhausting and leave you feeling misunderstood, lonely, and maybe even like the black sheep of the family.

This experience can sometimes lead to an identity crisis, a feeling of uncertainty about who you really are or where you fit in.

It can also bring up shame or confusion, especially when you feel you’re not meeting everyone’s expectations.

Being labeled as the “identified patient,” aka, the black sheep or the one who’s always causing trouble, can add even more stress and make you feel isolated.
